A look at the history of numbers

One of the many emails I receive each day in the search for new and interesting tidbits, entertainments and education had a nice little gem today. An interactive slideshow about various numeric representations systems, their histories and a little bit of a math and knowledge quiz to go with.

Certainly not anything as grand as a unified tome covering the history of the use of the number zero, or pi or such, but still a fun little diversion. The Maya one took a bit of figuring to realize what was going on for higher order numbers (above 20).
